About the Festival's Inception
After years of dreaming about providing performance opportunities for young string players in Lancaster county, the Maya Shih/Jennifer Petry team was born and our planning began. The Rose City String Festival is an opportunity to nurture, celebrate and inspire growth through performances, classes and constructive feedback from professional string artists. Our festival offers a unique opportunity for students to perform for their peers and support each other. Participants also take part in classes led by experienced instructors, and have a chance to be among the chosen students invited to perform in an honor's recital at the end of the festival. In November of 2024 our first festival was a success and concluded with a beautiful honor's recital awarding students $700.00 worth of music merchandise donated to us by JR Judd and D'Adarrio. We are full of ideas for how this festival can continue to grow and look forward to the next one. Come join us for another wonderful Rose City String Festival.
